Boston

A day in downtown Boston
Our chosen transportation today was another hop on hop off bus tour. These guys had a pickup point right outside our hotel, so no city driving for us today. Yay.

There was very funny interpretive information on board. Including the correct way to pronounce Boston - "Bahaston" you must say it kind of angrily but not angry just Bahaston.
Looking at this map above we got picked up at Fenway park and headed straight over to the US Constitution. This is still a commissioned battleship and was named Ironsides because of its thick wooded hulls

We took a guided tour on board that spoke about the British naval fleet and how they were so superior on the seas until Old Ironsides took to the seas to rescue American sailors captured and forced to work on the British boats. This vessel is undefeated in over 48 battles.

When at sea there would often be 8 person, 24 gun teams or 200 men on this deck alone.

This Captain must have been either really short, Or slept with his feet over the edge, just like I do in a small bed.

A Very nice Boat Indeed. Can you believe she is still expected to fight, if a war were to start.
Our next stop was the Boston Fire Hall. This is still an active station and is heritage listed. This means that they cannot change the size of the entrance to accommodate larger trucks, Instead the trucks are modified to fit into this station.

This Fire Pole is still in active service. Ambulances in this city always drive without their lights and siren going, we never saw am ambulance without its lights on.

We were lucky enough to be able to drive right past the Boston Bomb sites

Mass Gatherings and the new Memorial site for those victims

Lunch at the world famous Quincy Market A long strip of fast food stalls, great food.

Christopher Columbus standing looking out to the water

We took a sight seeing boat ride on the habor

Every year Red Bull host a high diving contest of the top of this building, the water is extremely deep here. The city itself has been filled in to create more land for the buildings we see today.

We even drove past the TV set Cheers.
A long day of walking

That was Boston as we saw it. From here we are planning to Drive North to Halifax. We are heading towards New Hampshire for 1 last day of Tax free outlet shopping before arriving in Halifax. The drive itself is about 14 hours. So this will be a 2 day journey.
